Offer essential services such as meals, medical care, mental health support, substance abuse treatment, and case management to address immediate needs and help individuals stabilize their lives.

Prevent Homelessness:

Implement preventive measures such as rental assistance programs, eviction prevention services, and financial assistance to help individuals and families at risk of homelessness stay in their homes.

Provide supportive services and resources to vulnerable populations, including youth aging out of foster care, veterans, individuals leaving incarceration, and survivors of domestic violence, to prevent them from becoming homeless.

Address Root Causes:

Identify and address the underlying factors contributing to homelessness, including poverty, lack of affordable housing, unemployment, mental illness, substance abuse, trauma, and systemic inequality.

Implement policies and programs that promote economic stability, affordable housing development, access to healthcare, education, job training, and employment opportunities for all individuals and families.

Increase Affordable Housing:

Invest in the development of affordable housing units and supportive housing programs to provide stable and permanent housing options for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Expand affordable housing subsidies, rental assistance programs, and housing vouchers to make housing more accessible and affordable for low-income households.

Collaborate and Coordinate Services:

Foster collaboration and coordination among government agencies, nonprofit organizations, community groups, businesses, and faith-based organizations to maximize resources and provide comprehensive support to individuals experiencing homelessness.

Implement coordinated entry systems and homeless management information systems to streamline access to services, prioritize assistance based on need, and track outcomes effectively.

Promote Housing First Approach:

Adopt a Housing First approach that prioritizes providing individuals experiencing homelessness with immediate access to permanent housing without preconditions or barriers.

Offer wraparound support services and case management to help individuals maintain housing stability, address underlying challenges, and achieve long-term self-sufficiency.

Combat Stigma and Discrimination:

Raise awareness about the complexities of homelessness and challenge stereotypes and misconceptions that perpetuate stigma and discrimination against individuals experiencing homelessness.

Promote empathy, compassion, and understanding in communities and advocate for policies and practices that uphold the dignity, rights, and humanity of all individuals, regardless of housing status.

Addressing the homeless problem requires a holistic and compassionate approach that recognizes the interconnectedness of social, economic, and systemic factors contributing to homelessness. By implementing evidence-based strategies, investing in affordable housing and supportive services, and fostering collaboration and empathy, communities can work together to help end homelessness and create a more equitable and inclusive society.

by Krys Copeland

Welcome, wanderers of the spiritual path, to the ancient city of Regensburg, Germany. Nestled on the Danube River, this UNESCO World Heritage site is not just a testament to medieval architecture but also a beacon for those seeking a connection with the past, especially for the Pagan community. As we embark on this journey through time, let's explore the mystical and the sacred, uncovering Regensburg's allure for Pagans and spiritual seekers alike.

1. The Old Stone Bridge: Crossing into History

Begin your pilgrimage at the Old Stone Bridge (Steinerne Brücke). Constructed in the 12th century, this marvel not only connected Regensburg to the rest of Europe but also served as a significant trade route. As you walk across, imagine the centuries of footsteps, the traders, the pilgrims, all seeking passage, their energies embedded in the stones beneath your feet. It's a physical and metaphorical crossing into the realm of history, where the river below has witnessed rituals and the ebb and flow of pagan traditions.

2. The Walhalla: A Pantheon of the Past

A short journey from Regensburg will bring you to the Walhalla, a neoclassical hall of fame that honors the illustrious figures of German history, mythology, and legend. This temple-like structure, overlooking the Danube, offers not just breathtaking views but also a connection to the deified ancestors and heroes of old. Pagans will find a deep resonance with the reverence for ancestral worship and the honoring of those who walked the path before us.

3. The Cathedral of St. Peter: Gothic Grandeur and Gargoyles

Regensburg's Cathedral of St. Peter is a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. While primarily a Christian site, Pagans can appreciate the cathedral's connection to the Earth and the divine through its intricate stonework, the towering spires reaching for the sky, and the myriad of gargoyles and mythical creatures that adorn its façade. These elements remind us of the time when Christianity and Paganism intertwined, leaving a legacy of artistic and spiritual syncretism.

4. The Celtic and Roman Footprints: An Archaeological Adventure

Regensburg's history predates its medieval glory, with roots stretching back to the Celts and Romans. The city and surrounding areas are dotted with archaeological sites that offer a glimpse into these ancient civilizations. Explore the remnants of Roman walls and forts, and seek out the lesser-known Celtic sites hidden in the landscape. These places are portals to the past, where one can meditate on the continuity of belief systems and the shared reverence for nature and the cosmos.

5. The Herb Garden of the Scots Monastery: A Whiff of the Old Ways

The Scots Monastery (Schottenkirche St. Jakob) houses a hidden gem for Pagans: a medieval herb garden. This serene spot is a testament to the knowledge of herbs and plants, not just for healing but also for their spiritual significance. Wander through the garden, engage with the plants, and reflect on the ancient wisdom that saw divinity in all living things. It's a quiet reminder of the Earth's bounty and the pagan practices that celebrate it.

6. The Fairy Tale Route: A Journey through Myth and Legend

Regensburg is a gateway to Bavaria's Fairy Tale Route, a path that meanders through forests, villages, and landscapes steeped in legend. This route is a call to the pagan soul, inviting you to explore the haunts of dwarves, fairies, and ancient spirits that dwell in the Germanic woodlands. It's an opportunity to connect with the elemental forces and the folklore that has shaped human understanding of the natural world.

7. The Danube's Whispers: A River Ritual

No visit to Regensburg would be complete without paying homage to the Danube itself. This mighty river has been a source of life, a boundary, and a deity in its own right. Take a moment to perform a simple river ritual: offer a stone or a piece of wood to the waters, whisper your wishes, and let the current carry them away. It's a practice that connects us to the ancient peoples who revered this river and recognized the sacred in the flow of water.

8. The Local Markets: A Feast of the Senses

Regensburg's markets are a celebration of the Earth's abundance. Visit the farmers' markets to sample local produce, artisanal bread, and handmade crafts. Each item tells a story of tradition, of cycles of growth and harvest, echoing pagan values of sustainability and community. It's also a chance to meet locals and fellow travelers, sharing stories and experiences that weave the fabric of a shared journey.

9. The Night Sky Over Regensburg: Stargazing into the Past

On a clear night, venture outside the city to gaze at the stars. The celestial sphere has guided humanity in navigation, agriculture, and spirituality. As you look up at the constellations, consider how our ancestors interpreted these patterns, finding gods and goddesses, heroes and monsters, in the twinkling lights. It's a humbling experience that connects us to the universe and to the myriad beliefs that find expression under the night sky.

10. The Regensburg Festival: A Celebration of Heritage

Time your visit to coincide with one of Regensburg's many festivals. These events are a vibrant showcase of history, culture, and tradition. From medieval fairs to harvest celebrations, each festival is an opportunity to immerse yourself in the communal spirit, to dance, to feast, and to honor the cycles of nature and human endeavor. It's in these moments of collective joy that the pagan heart finds its beat, in the continuity of celebration that transcends the ages.

As our guide concludes, remember that Regensburg is more than a destination; it's an experience, a journey into the layers of history, myth, and spirituality. For the Pagan traveler, it offers a unique blend of the ancient and the contemporary, inviting us to explore, to reflect, and to connect with the past and the present in profound and meaningful ways. Embrace the enigmatic allure of Regensburg, and let it inspire your path wherever it may lead.

The Sacred Art of Bone Divination: Atalanta Moonfire's Journey into Pagan Magickhttps://pagan.world/blog/the-sacred-art-of-bone-divination-atalanta-moonfire-s-journey-int2024-01-28T14:54:44.000Z2024-01-28T14:54:44.000ZKrys Copelandhttps://pagan.world/members/KrysCopeland

The Sacred Art of Bone Divination: Atalanta Moonfire's Journey into Pagan Magick

I have been turning this over in my head this week. I didn't go to our local Pagan meet up last week because of the ice and snow we have had. I really hated to miss it, because I really miss having a chance to hang out with other Pagans. There will be another another next month, but I really hated missing this one.

Human beings are social creatures. COVID taught us that. We need positive interactions with other people. We need to feel we belong. That's hard for Pagans sometimes. Paganism is decentralized. We don't have many buildings. Lots of us practice by ourselves. Even when we practice with others, we may only see each once a month.

That's our mission here at Pagan.World. We are here to help Pagans connect with other Pagans. We are building the Directory, bringing you programming thru Pagan World TV and Pagan World Radio, and curating videos on Pagan topics. You can post your events, start discussions, and create groups.

Thanks for coming on this journey with us.

Krys Copeland

In the eclectic world of spiritual literature, it's not every day that a Pagan Atheist reviews a Christian book. Yet, here I am, sharing my insights on Away and Back: Lessons from Jonah by King’ori Mbuthia with my Pagan World community. As a friend and a colleague at Speak Your Own Book, King’ori stands out as a writer of moral and ethical integrity, offering a fresh perspective in Christian literature. Since many in our community read a diverse range of spiritual books, and since we have several Christo-Pagans in the community, this particular book seems very appropriate for a Pagan World discussion.

King’ori's book delves into the Biblical story of Jonah, weaving a narrative that explores the trials of finding one's spiritual path, coping with guilt, and seeking redemption. He eloquently states, "You can indeed, as Jonah found out, look to His holy temple again and be restored to the joy of salvation.". This idea of returning to a place of spiritual peace resonates with my belief in connecting with the Universe.

Throughout the book, King’ori emphasizes prayer, solitude, and community. To me, these practices are universal in nature, transcending the Christian context and aligning with the broader spiritual language of inner peace and contentment.

King'ori and I don't see eye to eye on everything spiritual, as no two human beings do. One particular sticking point that stands out is his framing of Paul, referred to by King’ori as a "model Christian." This characterization initially struck me as contentious, considering Paul's history of persecuting Christians. However, King’ori's depiction of Paul is not about glorifying his past but rather highlighting the profound change he undergoes.

Paul's story is emblematic of redemption and the capacity for profound transformation. After his revelatory encounter on the road to Damascus, Paul becomes acutely aware of the gravity of his past actions. Unlike Jonah, who initially runs away from his divine calling, Paul faces his history head-on. He dedicates his life to atoning for his sins, fully embracing the teachings of Christ and working tirelessly for the Christian community. This journey from a persecutor to a proponent of the faith exemplifies what King’ori views as the essence of a "model Christian" – someone who not only recognizes their misdeeds but actively works to rectify them and contribute positively to their community.

This contrast between Paul and Jonah throughout the book offers a nuanced exploration of redemption. While Jonah's story is about avoiding and eventually accepting responsibility, Paul's narrative is about confronting one's past and actively seeking to make amends, as aggressively as he had committed those sins of his early life. King’ori uses these stories to demonstrate that redemption and transformation are available paths, regardless of one's history.

King’ori's discourse on "sin" and its consequences is thought-provoking. As a Pagan Atheist, I don't believe in "sin", but simply "harm". However, this is merely semantics, and very quickly into the book, it is clear that King'ori has a similar definition of sin. He criticizes the superficial understanding of forgiveness and repentance prevalent among some Christians, likening their prideful attitudes to Jonah's nationalistic pride and lack of compassion. This critique echoes the experiences of many of us in the Pagan community who have faced hypocrisy in the name of religion.

King’ori offers guidance through various life stages, providing advice rooted in Christian values that also align with humanistic, ethical principles. His insights into youth, adulthood, and the continual journey of self-discovery are filled with universal values like patience, generosity, and love. He underscores the importance of facing the consequences of one's actions, a principle that reverberates across belief systems.

Throughout the book, I find myself thinking over and over again with each of King'ori's insights and revelations, oh, how closely his experience of the Divine resembles my own interactions with the Universal energy that encompasses everything! Perhaps, though we call our paths by different names, we are honoring the same power and heading to the same source? I encourage you, Dear Reader, if you choose to purchase his book on Amazon, available at the very affordable price of $2.99, to decide the answer to that question for yourself. When you purchase this book, you can know that not only will you receive an engaging and enlightening glimpse into the true Christian's path, the one that is filled with lovingkindness and peace, but you will also be supporting a Kenyan writer, an author of color, and a kind and generous man, part of my SYOB family, and someone I consider a dear friend.

In summary, Away and Back transcends its Christian framework, offering guidance on ethical living, reflecting on human fallibility, and advocating for spiritual growth. King’ori's writing bridges the gap between Christian teachings and universal human experiences, making it a meaningful read for Christians, Christopagans, and, yes, even Pagan Atheists like myself. This book will particularly appeal to those seeking reconciliation with their past — especially if their past involves a negative church experience growing up—and embracing a future filled with spiritual fulfillment.

Glory be unto Gaia. As the vibrations came together, it was a chorus, a choir and finally a clash of power so fantastic and terrible, for there was so much beauty. I woke up. My heart ached. This magic I would see again, and now we have the ability to create such a thing.” – Ed the Pagan

In the chaos of great powers of the world are on the move, we have one power advantage, our magic. Our will being manifested in a thousand small ways to push the narrative of a more mystical and joyous world. So, we allow ourselves to use magic because we can, we are allowed. If we hide it, we don’t need to prove it. That means to make sure no one knows. And in defense, a lot of people were killed and murdered as a matter of the grinding machines of patriarchy, and the technology that would become industrialism.

Everyday Magick fills our lives. When we speak of energy, we are just at the beginning. We are learning how big our minds are, and how they interface with consciousness. We, as a Animist base, that which is most primal of our consciousness, share a desire to live in happiness and in peace. If not us as individuals, for we are warriors, so that our children and grandchildren would know a good life.

If you know magick, this is a wonderful time as even the very walls of reality are breaking down. It seems physics is having a very bumpy quantum trip. The rules between physics, magic and AI will be the stuff of legends.

The most singular thing about a daily act of magick by us all, if only that is done, and no more commonality drives intention to the reality we are asking for.

Rule 5: Use Magick: To grow and use magick, expanding on the idea of applied magic. With technology emerging which appears to conform to the concept of magick combined with knowledge that pours from our ancient most part of ourselves. We can ignite a deeply magickal world, we can literally create the next reality control. Our will manifested.

So acting on our intentions, sharing those intentions, will bring stronger will and focus. You are drawing the attention of the higher realms of consciousness. You are also drawing the attention of other human beings. When they share a magical practice, on a personal level, and shred in a group level, you expand many times ever, a synergy of magic and woven intent. From here we establish our will. The stronger the will the more reality will react to it.

If you only follow one rule, and this rule above all. Practice magic on a daily basis. Practice magic as much as you can. Share it when you can.
Blessed Be, Ed

Press Release from the Correllian Witan Councilhttps://pagan.world/blog/press-release-from-the-correllian-witan-council2024-01-05T12:39:13.000Z2024-01-05T12:39:13.000ZMary Hawkhttps://pagan.world/members/MaryHawk

Press Release:

Poverty is the inability to earn enough to make the basic needs of food, housing, security, and even, our health. This is not ours alone, but it is a strong element within our community. We must deal with this, in what we see in our local and national communities.

Rule 4. Meet Needs: The Goddess has no need for hunger and lack. In 2024, continuing cultivate food sources that are able to protect us, and with tools needed to live a quality life. Seeb Banks and permaculture, food storage and all manner of knowledge will need to be exercised over the long term.

Leadership, Guides, and whatever form your support group takes, you will need to learn what your member’s needs. Identifying those who would or is in your community and discover their needs. It can be simply wanting to have places to meet others. It can be food insecurity, and the number of needs, will be diverse. Its almost always local.

Equally so, is the network of businesses within our community. While metaphysical and crafts are the most visible forms of business, so to important is the trades like plumbing and electricians, contractors for homes, web tech, medical services including herbalism, and the number of things we do and need, are possible in your local community. Not just candles and incense, but food, medical, trades, and every level of a capitalistic world. Spending in community amplifies abundance.

So its not just assuring our most in need members have life giving support, it is important to understand a connectivity of needs, matching them with people who can help. This is where we can develop abundance. To discover all the needs, and seek ways to support each other. Over time, this develops in local resilience protecting and guiding us to a higher quality of life.

In the end, we want enough to cover our needs, allowing ourselves to pursue happiness, joy, love and all we find as curious and useful. We will need to do the work, but we can do it with greater abundance. In time that will develop wealth in our image.

Blessings,
Ed

Exposing the Absurdity: Applying Playground Ethics to 'The Return of the Pagans'https://pagan.world/blog/exposing-the-absurdity-the-return-of-the-pagans-vs-reality2023-12-30T09:26:28.000Z2023-12-30T09:26:28.000ZKrys Copelandhttps://pagan.world/members/KrysCopeland

Note: This response is not written by an academic with an extensive background in research. Instead, it's very much written from a playground teacher's "How would you like it if someone did this to you?" logic. Rabbi Wolpe acted like a playground bully, so I am responding to him in my elementary teacher voice. For a more rigorous and scholarly response, I suggest Jason Mankey's "The Return of the Pagan Scapegoat".

In his controversial article "The Return of the Pagans," David Wolpe presents a grossly outdated view of Paganism, reminiscent of using ancient, archaic practices to define an entirely modern faith. This approach is not just intellectually negligent; it borders on the absurd.

Imagine a parallel universe where The Atlantic publishes an article written by a Pagan spiritual leader who declares Judaism is solely defined by ancient, bewildering rituals – telling millions of readers that modern Jews still practice animal sacrifices or smear blood on doorposts during Passover. Outlandish, right? This is precisely the skewed lens through which Wolpe views modern Paganism.

Wolpe's depiction of Pagans as primitive, magic-obsessed individuals is as ludicrous as portraying today's Jewish population as ancient Hebrew militants, zealously engaging in battles and conquests from Biblical times. It's a sensationalist misfire that neglects the rich evolution and current diversity of both faiths.

In the real world, modern Judaism has evolved far beyond its ancient origins, embracing a spectrum of beliefs and practices. Similarly, contemporary Paganism is a mosaic of ecological consciousness, ethical magic, and spiritual growth – a far cry from Wolpe's caricature of archaic rituals and superstitions.

The article's sensational portrayal of Pagans as debauched, uneducated fools who believe in fairies is as insulting as suggesting that modern Jews believe in stoning disobedient children, as per ancient laws. Besides, there's just as much evidence for Yahweh as there is for fairies. Regardless, Wolpe's attack piece is a reckless throwback that muddles outdated truth with modern Hollywood fiction, disrespecting the spiritual journey of countless individuals in our community.

In sum, "The Return of the Pagans" is a hyperboblic-at-best piece that misses the mark. It trades accuracy for shock value -- and ad revenue -- painting a picture of Paganism that's as absurdly outdated as the notion of modern Jews living by the exact letter of Levitical law. Such misrepresentations don't just spread misinformation; they fuel the fires of religious ignorance and intolerance that will only harm the reputation of both our faiths.

A rabbi should know better.

Knowledge is Power, Education is the Sourcehttps://pagan.world/blog/knowledge-is-power-education-is-the-source2023-12-29T18:53:23.000Z2023-12-29T18:53:23.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

Knowledge is Power, Education is the Source

“The empires of the future are the empires of the mind.” - Winston Churchill, speech at Harvard, 6 September 1943

In this world, at this time, knowledge is the source of all power emerging. Along with wealth and violence, the ability to think and act on information gives strength. To learn skills, to know of seed and plant, to speak of the laws of nature, and the emerging universe that bends to will and magick. This we must learn, teach, and build upon. Those who control education rule the over culture.

Rule 3. Educate Everyone: A free people control their education, how they learn, what they learn, and the methods used to provide knowledge and training. We, in 2024 and forevermore, need to take over our education systems, focused on providing cradle to grave learning opportunities. We can provide and protect all that is worth knowing, beginning a process of learning, unlearning, and learning again.

For my personal actions Witch College is the beginning of that long term education. Support for all education must be developed. No one person, no one team, can do it all. So we need to look for local to global opportunities to teach and to prepare for a future past the current crises of a changing environment and dangerous politics.

While we honor the warrior, respect the priest and priestess, but the true hero will be the teacher, the educator, the hand that leads the next generation to understanding. Without teachers we are lost, with them we have a incredible future. Educate everyone is the path towards a world of peace, a world of abundance. A world where we can speak our hearts and our thoughts, a place where we will offer something precious, a mind worth having.

Blessings
Ed

The Need to develop Legal Structures aka Churches.https://pagan.world/blog/the-need-to-develop-legal-structures-aka-churches2023-12-27T23:53:56.000Z2023-12-27T23:53:56.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

The Need to develop Legal Structures aka Churches.

Being Connected is helpful to creating and establishing groups and religious organizations, of all kinds. Creating a practicing body, aka a church, is a way to improve and embed our rights as articles of faith.

Rule 2. Legalize Churches: Assure the development of religious organizations in a legal capacity with rights beign protecting bylaws and articles of faith. In 2024, the goal is to develop 1,000 Pagan Churches in the United States to provide a bulwark to protect our constitutional rights.

Let’s discuss the word Church, as it is a legal designation, in the US tax codes for all religious bodies, as a Not-For-Profit, regardless of a 501c3 status. You may use other designates in your filing, including Temples, Synagogues, and similar names, by your state filing. It is one of the most powerful signs of Preeminence of Christianity, to have all these religious organizations reduced to Church. You can not even called it a Religious Organization, as that too, has a separate legal status. In order to change this, you would have to have the laws and regulations rewritten. This can only be done through the Congress or through the Courts.

Here is the document: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1828.pdf that will explain the fine details.
Here is the glossary to help further define: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p1828.pdf

By creating local legal bodies, churches and religious organizations, you can build in your statements of faith those right you want to preserve, including body autonomy, personal freedom, protection of clergy discretion, and numerous other rights that are pursued in the name of the divine. This allows for a time, in extremis, to prove these are true statement and not at the moment claims of privilege. By creating the statements of faith, widely distributed to public on as needed basis, including hospitals, funeral homes, public schools, prisons, police and fire departments, and even governmental bodies, provides standing and foreknowledge. This is powerful when needed.

There are benefits to churches on a financial and personal basis, in serving and how to conduct group actions, including ways to finance properties, operate food and other aid, and the list goes on. Churches in USA have some great benefits and advantages. This can help as well.

With a thousand churches registered, even if everyone is independent, allows for a bulwark against threats to any one of them. If successful, some or all can even create a association that allows us to lobby together when needed, providing legal support as well as potential other benefits.

So consider in 2024, where you and your groups are at, and if they would benefit from legal status. It is my expectation that we will all be better, the more that can see themselves as leaders of this next wave of Paganism.

Blessings
Ed

🌌 Embark on an Enlightening Journey with "Nature's Rational Spirit: A Journey into Pagan Atheism" 🌌https://pagan.world/blog/embark-on-an-enlightening-journey-with-nature-s-rational-spirit-a2023-12-27T10:56:10.000Z2023-12-27T10:56:10.000ZKrys Copelandhttps://pagan.world/members/KrysCopeland

Hi, I'm Krys Copeland, and I'm thrilled to introduce my latest work, Nature's Rational Spirit: A Journey into Pagan Atheism. Pagan.World will be our primary hub, utilizing global communication systems, we will be able to communicate and create exchanges on a one-to-one basis, one-to-many, and every spectrum in between. This next year represents the seeds of that next level of a connected community. If not Pagan.world find somewhere to connect.

The value of connecting goes back to the 6 Degrees of Kevin Bacon. A game where you through you connections, friends and family, you personally who met Kenin Bacon, or know someone who did. The underlying mental mapping is that no one is believed to be farther then 6 degrees of connection. If this is true, it is believed its always possible to get the right help needed to fix a difficulty. There is a reason we connect as humans as we don’t know who we need in the future.

Connected Communities can survive difficult, dramatic, and even life-threatening situations by their connections who at least share empathy. The empathic among us will lead us towards peace, prayer, and ways to share meaningful conversations. This self-love of the core community is essential to a healthy human community, from family, tribe and wherever we can give that communal empathy. This empathy lives at the individual level, small intimate groups, in families, in tribes and clans.

Why 1 million?

Is this just some ego goals I am setting so I can claim that number? So I would have a stoked ego, no doubt. How I react to it will tell of my character as well. But what I will have set into motion is recognition and attention. This is needed for survival into our future as a coherent community.

In the global governance is do you represent a million people, in a coherent and consent-based way? This is perceived by the various parties of the global bureaucracy, to have enough value to stand around the table. So can we connect enough to answer the United Nations, United States and other Nations in which we have connected members.

My Awakening of Numbers

In 1993, while attending the Parliament, faced a upset director of the Parliament Board. I asked, and it was about the Chicago ritual, which was led through the bueracracy by Lady Phyllis herself. That it was a privileged for us to be represented at all. He said, that in order to recorded in a UN Census or poll, you have to have a 100,000 members. I said, whipping at Pew Report, 135,000 people publicly known.
He smiled, show me your membership lists, and where you share representation. You don’t have those numbers. You have to prove them to be taken seriously. My soul was pierced. I understood. After all I was Paralegal for the decade before.
30 years later, this summer at the 9th Convening of the Parliament of the World’s Religions, my tradition was part of the opening procession, on the stage itself, and in much of the ritual over the entire event. I could offer many stories, but it was that director, now in spirit, who set me to this goal of connection.

Let’s connect: http://pagan.world

Blessings
Ed

Five Steps of Pagan Survivalhttps://pagan.world/blog/five-steps-of-pagan-survival2023-12-22T06:26:04.000Z2023-12-22T06:26:04.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

Everything I have learned about Pagans, the culture and community, is that they are neither unified nor even have many common traits. What they do have is the desire to remain free and independent in their thoughts. As individuals and groups they are very passionate and protective of how they perceive the world. The only commonality at the end is that the recognize the need to continue, to survive. It is with that thought that I have consolidated my thinking to these five steps.

1. Connect Pagans
2. Legalize Churches
3. Educate everyone
4. Meet Needs
5. Use Magick

When we can master this steps we will move towards survival in prosperity an in crisis. Build towards the good, stand against the harmful. Sounds simple and truly it is. We merely have to find our purpose individually and share collective goals.

For myself, these rules of survival take on a crucial importance:

1. Connect Pagans: The goal of Pagan,World is to connect 1 million Pagans together in 2024. Utilizing communication systems, we will be able to communicate and create exchanges on a one-to-one basis, one-to-many, and every spectrum in between. Pagan.World represents the seeds of that next level of a connected community.

2. Legalize Churches: Assure the development of religious organizations in a legal capacity with right protecting bylaws and articles of faith. In 2024, the goal is to develop 1,000 Pagan Churches in the United States to provide a bulwark to protect our constitutional rights.

3. Educate Everyone: A free people control their education, how they learn, what they learn, and the methods used to provide knowledge and training. We, in 2024 and forevermore, need on taking over our education systems , focused on providing cradle to grave learning opportunities. We can provide and protect all that is worth knowing, beginning a process of learning, unlearning, and learning again. Witch College is the beginning of that long term education.

4. Meet Needs: The Goddess has no need for hunger and lack. In 2024, continuing cultivate food sources that are able to protect us, and with tools needed to live a quality life. Seeb Banks and permaculture, food storage and all manner of knowledge will need to be exercised over the long term.

5. Use Magick: To grow and use magick, expanding on the idea of applied magic. With technology emerging which appears to conform to the concept of magick combined with knowledge that pours from our ancient most part of ourselves. We can ignite a deeply magickal world, we can literally create the next reality control. Our will manifested.
Together, these rules can be applied as you choose them, for yourself, your community, and even how you will govern yourself. For me, the first set of goals emerging from them for me is truly big, magnificent, and what will be needed to survive as a culture, a group, and a people,

Blessings,
Ed

Pagans and Power, Part 1:https://pagan.world/blog/pagans-and-power-part-12023-12-18T03:57:55.000Z2023-12-18T03:57:55.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

Pagans, in all their different paths, have a near universal belief in the power of divine power. Divine power is the potential to change their lives. Yet, when it comes to power within the world the idea changes dramatically from person to person, group to group. There is a stink that clings to how we think and perceive power, developed by the misuse and aggressive nature of it.

Power is the the aspect that remains most misunderstood and highly important. It is needed for this generation and the years we live in. Today, we see the way power in the forms to control our society, it being created and uncreated at a rapid pace, providing new ways to use minds to create new ways to use force, generate wealth, and gain knowledge. We are deep in the “Powershift” era, where bigger power struggles exist and more to come.

A “Powershift” does not merely transfer power, It transforms it. We stand at the deepest powershift in the history of the world.

What is power?
Power is defined as purposeful power over control over people and the environment they are in. The trinity of force, wealth, and knowledge to have them perform in a given way.

Force is the crudest form, being of violence and bodily control. To use methods that compel not out of willingness to serve, but the compulsion to do so. It is the way systems work to assure behavior by the threat and sometimes the demonstration of force compels people to act.

Wealth is more refined, as it can allow for exchange or trade for goods and services. It is how wealth can be used that can create purposeful change with individuals to entire civilizations, Wealth, in the form of money and privileges can be used to amplify force as well. This moves into paid soldiers, security, and other aspects needed to essentially control an environment. Other examples abide. More wealth can mean more force. It can also to be used to buy your way out of being under someone who uses force. The use of wealth is versatile, as it can also be used for rewards. In this sense wealth has a greater versality in creating positive and negative change.

Knowledge is the most refined part of power. The phrase Power is knowledge is true. It can lead to discoveries that make the world better, can be used to create new ideas that can be used by people who will use money to buy, and it can be used to refine force being used, in the form of weapons or as casually as blackmail. Knowledge is also sharable and fungible, being able to be used by multiple people and groups simultaneously. In fact, the control of information is now the center of multiple forms of wealth and force generation.

Pagans and their relationship to power.

Pagans often talk about the warrior, the guardian, the protector, and these are the ancient stereotypes of force made real. It is a way to discuss how a individual can use that energy within force and violence. To be a warrior, one must use it rightly, fairly and with justice. Our guardians who protect our festivals can be a perception of force to protect against unwanted behaviors. This can be a aggressive individual sexually against others, one who preaches and interrupts the events, or simple being a person who used violence against others. The warrior and/or guardian, then is called in to use justified force to remove them. This is generally the limit to the societal permission to use force in the Pagan culture.

Wealth within the Pagan community is a weak link for most. Between what is called poverty consciousness, contempt of increasing value, inability to truly generate cash and revenue, or just the perception, the ability to gain and use wealth, is a slow, difficult, and often inaccessible to the average Pagan person. For those who have a bit of wealth, like all other communities it can give them a advantage and leverage over others, and this creates animosity and rejection. It is one of the weakest areas of Pagan community.

Knowledge is by far the one area that Pagans have developed and is their primary source of power. Through the exchange of knowledge, the creator gains attention and cooperation of individuals, so they can learn, acquire items of rarity, and develop access to higher levels of community organization. The more unique the knowledge, the more useful, entertaining, and accessibility, the more it is valued. It is through knowledge what wealth a Pagan individual receives is in exchange of this. It is why with Pagan communities you see secrecy, gatekeepers, and other ways to channel information so that it helps build wealth and status, enough to occasionally use force.

Listen to the Pagan World Radio Show:
http://tobtr.com/s/12297006

Look for Part 2: Pagans and Powe, Part 2: Reputational Combat

Yule Auction Live!https://pagan.world/blog/yule-auction-live2023-11-24T23:02:28.000Z2023-11-24T23:02:28.000ZMary Hawkhttps://pagan.world/members/MaryHawk

Check out the Pagan World Yule Auction

The longest lasting and most crucial point of cultural rejuvenation.
Libraries endure, the are the seeds in which each generation grows.

On January 11th, 2024, Witch College will open the doors to its library, which begins as virtual, and in 2024 will be a decentralized system, of lending and research libraries. Once the Library opens, the Order of the Library will begin in earnest the preservation of all knowledge needed for our future generations. This will not only be our collection but a nexus into the emerging global libraries. We will have the world’s knowledge at our finger tips. The Akashic Records made real.

During our Kickstarter campaign, we offered a library card, for $10. We are seeing this as a simple and basic way to fund this library, but in truth, will be a public resource. Under the Witch College Library system, we will be able to create lending libraries across the world. With the Order of the Library, we will see the formation of both physical as well as virtual libraries.

During our first year, 2024, the Library will be focused on curating and the distribution of all manner of materials. Included will be a collection of over 15,000 hours of video and audio materials generated by over 25 years of interviews across many mediums. Once we begin, we will be able to add material as students and volunteers help us prepare and upload. This will allow for all manner of access to historians, archivist, and researchers to raw source materials.

Last but not least, we will be able to help preserve and protect knowledge of our community, across many libraries in many cities. We will be able through peer-to-peer architecture, to do deep memory storage. We must assure that we can extend ourselves to our descendants, to be good ancestors.

More to come,
Blessings
Ed

November 13th – New Moon – Crystal Webhttps://pagan.world/blog/november-13th-new-moon-crystal-web2023-11-14T02:25:50.000Z2023-11-14T02:25:50.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

November 13th – New Moon – Crystal Web

So 58 days away, So I, Ed, am sharing my Crystal Web thoughts and the magic that I want to produce. So here is something I am a bit uncomfortable. But Here we are.

So the Crystal Web, grows ever greater and deeper, as the events surrounding the anniversary in Chicago. The Crystal Web was deeply involved. It has been a Odessey of magick and growth of magick. In 2020, was the year of the Witch, the world shut down, and Gaia began to regenerate. The great moment will come with the total solar eclipse coming in 2024.

Tonight, I continue to focus the web towards growth, expanding energy, fulfilling imagination, and providing the energy needed for our magick, especially in the form of egregores. My magick has been always deeply rooted in the creation of psychic structures. I used any means I could to create connections. The physical realm is the base of a expanding awareness of the cosmos, we must continue our lives, our body, the root of our current consciousness. Yet, for almost everyone who reads this, we are interconnected on a grid, platform, of silicon and electricity. This is where we are, connecting the psychical crystals, to our mental connections, to the amplifiers of our hearts, to our spirit stones, and into places we are only now discovering.

In 2024, as we move this energy through this New Moon portal tonight, through the loving embrace of peace, woven at the earliest stones, to the latest Parliament with our great Peace Bringer, sending peace of the Gods and Goddesses, Ancestors and more into the web and out to the world. In this New Moon, We are rejuvenating as we head towards the Solar Eclipse.

So I here is where we stand tonight, the Great Crystal Web, has activated all it’s crystals, all it’s nodes, and those who are blessed and immersed within it’s energy as a conduit to abundance. Have you discovered inner abilities they have become aware of? The egregores of Crystal Web have grown into functional entities, shared of Spirits and Oracles. So deep into the realms of the shared awareness, the common language, the communal physical realm, we are growing ever more connected, in spirit, in magic, and in our awareness through multiple levels of communication.

More work to be done, as the day comes. January 11th, 2024.

Blessings
Ed

In 60 days, A Vision of Community College, Promisedhttps://pagan.world/blog/in-60-days-a-vision-of-community-college-promised2023-11-12T04:12:37.000Z2023-11-12T04:12:37.000ZEd Hubbardhttps://pagan.world/members/EdHubbard

by Ed Hubbard 11/11/2023 (PWP)

I want to thank everyone for their energies through the years, helping, creating, developing the magnificent vision of a expanding growing healthy community. The pursuit of a connected community has been the inner purpose to my life.

In 60 days, on January 11th, 2024, I will be sharing new level of my mission, to fulfill the vision of creating community platforms. As promised, Witch College and Psychic Academy will open their doors. This will offer another kind of education, adapted for the future now before us. Based on Web 3.0, it will be interactive and intuitive. I will be sharing more as we grow closer to the opening.

The Opening Class on January 11th, will be “Intro to Witch Culture”, the most intensive introduction course that will compose of 12 Class Modules, over a 6-week period. This will be taught live and recorded, with some of the best source teachers and experts. This will be the first course that we offer to the College. This is how we will begin in 60 days.

For those who choose to participate, will find that this will be a adventure, being part of a ground floor, experimental education experience. A rare opportunity to be part of the creation experience.

On a personal note, I want to thank my friends of mind and heart have heard me trying to work this out, all through covid years, and even as we prepared to attend Parliament. For acting as sound boards and advisors, I am grateful to all of you who know and shared my struggle, At last, now I am going to apply those thoughts and processes, to the real world.
The Veil Thins at Samhain

As the recent Samhain celebrations come to a close, with the veil between our world and the next at its most delicate, we find ourselves reflecting on the profound cycle of life and death. It's a period that reminds us of the transient nature of our existence and the spiritual journey that lies beyond. Full disclosure -- while I might be slightly biased as the editor of The Correllian Book of the Dead, it's my pleasure to share with you a work that sheds light on these eternal questions—a book penned by the esteemed Rev. Donald Lewis, the retired First Priest of the Correllian Tradition.

Sacred Beginnings: A Personal Journey with Rev. Donald Lewis

"The Correllian Book of the Dead" offers more than just a narrative; it is a personal voyage as told by Rev. Donald Lewis himself. The book opens with a window into his childhood within the Correllian Tradition, offering us a rare glimpse into the formative years that shaped a leading figure in the Pagan community. This intimate portrayal sets the stage for a profound exploration of life's most mystical transition.

Beyond the Physical: Ghosts, Spirits, and the Soul

In the book, Rev. Lewis provides clarity on often-misunderstood concepts: ghosts, spirits, and the soul. What sets them apart, and how do they interact with our consciousness? These are not just academic inquiries—they are fundamental to understanding our place in the tapestry of existence.

The Soul's Odyssey: Reincarnation and Ancestral Spirits

Diving into the complexities of the soul's odyssey, "The Correllian Book of the Dead" examines reincarnation, parallel lives, and the connection with ancestral spirits. The book discusses how these elements coexist and influence our spiritual journey, offering profound insights into the fabric of our being.

Psychic Hygiene and Protection

As someone who has navigated both the physical and spiritual realms, Rev. Lewis emphasizes the importance of psychic hygiene. The discussions on shielding techniques and dealing with energy vampires are not only crucial for practitioners but also for spirits who may need guidance and protection.

Engaging with the Ethereal: Spirit Collaboration

One of the book's most compelling sections describes how to collaborate with spirits, decipher spirit messaging, and work with guides. It's a practical guide for those seeking to establish a deeper rapport with the ethereal realm.

The Final Passage: Rites, Rituals, and Comfort

In its closing chapters, "The Correllian Book of the Dead" details the rites and rituals that honor the dead, aiding them in their journey. Rev. Lewis shares insights into the process of crossing over, funeral customs, and the significance of mourning.

As your tour guide through this exploration of The Correllian Book of the Dead, I've endeavored to ensure that every word edited honors the tradition and wisdom of the Correllian path and the profound knowledge of Rev. A twinge of nerve pain flits by, barely noticeable, as I unfurl into a cobra pose. 'Smiling cobra, happy cobra,' chimes today's Siddhi Yoga yogi through the TV screen, his voice tinged with an Indian lilt that's melodious and uplifting. I suppress an urge to vocalize my discomfort towards the happy-cobra-yogi—no expletives today. Tomorrow, I'll switch back to the young yogi, a prodigy who appears so young that her brain probably isn't even fully developed, yet possessing a wealth of wisdom on reproductive health and yoga therapy that my generation and culture utterly lack. As I rise, concluding my quintet of Sun Salutations, I exhale a sigh that's equal parts relief and triumph. All that remains is the tranquil stretch and the closing meditative breathwork. Worship complete.

Worship?! How could an atheist worship? You might wonder this if you've read my previous blog articles for Pagan World. I’m an Atheist Pagan, after all.Yet my worship is as authentic as it gets—comparable to the devotion of a Catholic nun, the spiritual commitment of a Wiccan priestess, or the unshakeable faith of a Buddhist monk. It's a moment of sheer gratitude and fulfillment so palpable that it feels like an act of worship—toward myself, toward every human being, toward all Gaia's creatures, and toward the boundless universe itself. It’s a profound, silent thankfulness for the mere fact of existence.

In the labyrinth of spiritual paths, as a Pagan Atheist, I hold no delusions that my way is superior to the yogi beside me. We're all wanderers and sages in our own right, perpetually bartering wisdom and learning with the other wanderers and sages of this world. Whether it's the euphoria of a runner's high, the transcendent liberation of an ecstatic dance, the altered perceptions from a psychotropic voyage, the soul-quaking harmonies of a Southern hymn, or the transformative choreography of asanas—these are the blissful moments that make us quintessentially human. It's a universal pilgrimage on Gaia, chasing fleeting instances of unity with ourselves, each other, and the cosmos. For me, yoga has been that nexus, a ritualistic channel connecting me to the vastness within and beyond.

And when yoga was abruptly extracted from my life, the seismic shock of its absence rippled through my being. An emergency gallbladder surgery this past January forced me into a yoga hiatus lasting over three agonizing months. Until then, I hadn’t fully grasped the gravity of just how much my bi-weekly 10-to-15-minute yoga sessions had been anchoring my mental well-being. They were my touchstones amid a series of health crises, through the rollercoaster of a global pandemic, the erratic fluctuations of financial fortunes, the launch of a startup that has grown exponentially in a few short years, and the disorienting shift of an intercontinental move.

Then, just like that, my nexus was severed.

As I entered the dark tunnel of recovery, my mental health felt the decline as well. My complex alphabet soup of diagnoses flared once again, and the symptoms of generalized anxiety, depression, c-PTSD, ADHD, and BPD began to surface. .It was only when I reincorporated yoga that I saw a light at the end of that recovery tunnel. Yoga's importance in my life became all too obvious, and my perception of it shifted with that realization and I suddenly sensed a deeper reclamation of self. My Higher Self, my Inner Child, my Core, call it what you wish, but yoga had transformed from a loosely followed health habit to something that defined me as a human being.

Driven by a voracious hunger for that elusive wholeness that we seek out in various healthy and unhealthy ways as humans, I plunged into Siddhi Yoga's 30-day beginner course headfirst. That initial session—just 30 minutes long—threw into sharp relief the toll my unscheduled surgery and hiatus had taken on my physical well-being.

Asanas that once unfolded like second nature, that once transported me to sublime states, now left me gasping for air, suffused with anxiety. Each posture threatened to topple me both physically and mentally into a vortex of panic, raising specters of injuries that could land me back in the confinement of bedrest I had only just escaped. But herein lies the Venn diagram-like overlap of yoga philosophy and PTSD recovery: confront the anxiety and emerge unscathed, and its stranglehold loosens over time. The reassuring cadence of my nightly screen-side yogi—'You can do this…keep holding…you got this…healthy body…happy smile'—guided me through the pretzel-like poses, twisting my back, neck, and limbs into impossible asanas and safely depositing me at each restful counterpose.

And so, a triumphant ecstasy surged through my being as I concluded that initial session, my body a symphony of soreness, sweat, and simultaneously exhilarating and excruciating shocks of nerve pain.

And night after night, day after day, I persevered—until that first 30-day cycle was completed. Then I restarted the 30-day beginner cycle, not once but twice. Ninety days of disciplined practice, with only an occasional rest day punctuating the journey.

The dividends? A marked descent in my daily stress quotient and a palpable ascent in my energy levels.

Did daily yoga exorcize my chronic neuropathy and fatigue?

Did it magically balance my hormones and remove the cysts from my ovaries?

Did it slurp up my alphabet soup and leave me with a perfectly whole and fully functioning heathy central nervous system?

Pfft, I wish.

But my dashboard of symptoms saw a significant needle drop across the board.

My alphabet soup is still floating around in there, but I'm much better at recognizing when a letter is floating up internally before they're noticeable externally. I'm more aware of my body and my mind and my emotional state than I've ever been. And my daily pain symptoms have gone from a daily 5-6 to a daily 1-2. Occasionally I even have 100% pain-free days.

And I feel a spiritual connection again, something at times I have missed as an atheist prior to making yoga my daily practice. As a child, I attended a Southern Baptist Church, and I was a true believer, with a childlike faith, that if I was a good person, if I admitted when I made mistakes and say I'm sorry and promise to do better tomorrow, that even though I would still one day die, once it was all over, I would go to Heaven. And that other Christians believed and practiced the same thing.

But the nearby examples of Christianity in practice in rural Texas were not always kind and Christlike, of course. In fact, a lot of those examples seemed just as awful as the examples in the Bible of evil people who would definitely not be going to Heaven.

My childlike wonder had grown into a childish resentment of Christianity, and in some ways all religions.I had lost the simple happy faith of childhood, and it has taken half a lifetime to replace that faith with something truly genuinely me, a combination of Pagan ethics, scientific methodology, and yoga. My own personal holy trinity, if you will.

Yoga, in essence, could be viewed as an amalgamation and confluence of these traditional triadic themes. Rather than adhering to the roles of Maiden, Mother, and Crone, or the Warrior, Father, Sage, or even the Christian Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, my own conceptual trinity tilts toward a unique blend of duality and unity: Science and Spirituality, all observed through the transformative lens of Yoga.

The Science Behind Yoga

Yoga isn't merely a sequence of poses or a form of ritual. It's a rich, layered experience where both the arcane and the analytical find common ground. Here, science doesn't just nod at spirituality; it embraces it fully.

Physical Benefits

Flexibility, Strength, and Posture: These are not just wish-list items; they're verifiable outcomes of a consistent yoga practice. While you perfect your asanas, what you're really doing is manipulating your body's biomechanics in a scientifically advantageous manner.

Cardiovascular Robustness: You're not just holding a pose; you're participating in a form of dynamic isometric training that positively impacts your heart.

Mental Health Benefits

The Endorphin Enigma: Sure, endorphins make you feel good, but yoga facilitates a more complex neurochemical milieu that can significantly lessen the weight of anxiety, PTSD, stress, emotional imbalance, and depression.

Biological Connections

Chakras and Bodily Systems: Observing the intricate chart showcasing the 114 chakras within the human body, it becomes apparent that the understanding of chakras extends far beyond the commonly recognized seven primary chakras. This vast, interconnected web of chakras resembles our body's complex biological networks.

The pathways delineated by the chakras might remind one of the nervous system's vast web. Each nerve and neuron, interconnected and communicating, reflects the chakra system's intricate communication between energy points.

Similarly, the flow of energy visualized in the chakra pathways is reminiscent of our cardiovascular system's vast array of vessels and capillaries, transporting blood and ensuring vitality reaches every cell.

The purification associated with certain chakras aligns with the lymphatic system’s pathways, tasked with filtering impurities and maintaining the body's internal environment.

Through this lens, one might surmise that ancient practitioners were intuitively interacting with and understanding the body's physiological networks. By conceptualizing the chakras as this vast interconnected system, they might have been symbolically representing the intricate pathways of nerves, blood vessels, and lymphatic routes. This perspective offers a harmonious blend of ancient spiritual wisdom and modern biological understanding, suggesting that the chakra system could be an ancient interpretation of the body's complex physiological networks.

Biochemical Synchrony

Harmonizing Hormones: When you engage in deep breaths during challenging stretches, you're doing more than just fueling muscles with oxygen. You're potentially influencing your hormonal balance, which can help regulate the symptoms of several health conditions:

Stress Response: Deep-breathing exercises can reduce levels of cortisol, the primary stress hormone, aiding in relaxation and mental clarity.

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A condition associated with insulin resistance and an imbalance of reproductive hormones. Regular practice can potentially improve insulin sensitivity, which in turn can assist in managing hormone regulation.

Thyroid Disorders: Conditions like hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism arise from imbalances in thyroid hormone production. Mindful exercises might aid in achieving a better hormonal balance and improved metabolic function.

Adrenal Fatigue: Chronic stress can lead to the adrenal glands becoming overworked, resulting in an imbalance of hormones like adrenaline and aldosterone. Techniques focused on relaxation and mindfulness can aid in adrenal recovery.

Diabetes: Linked to the hormone insulin, mindful exercises can play a role in improving insulin sensitivity and glucose regulation.

Engaging with your body mindfully, understanding and potentially influencing this intricate hormonal dance, can offer holistic benefits, from managing specific disorders to achieving overall well-being.

Mind-Body Cohesion

Somatic Consciousness: The sensation of your feet firmly planted on the ground, the alignment of your spine, the stretch of your arms as they reach upward in Vriksasana - these are tangible experiences rooted in neuroscience, particularly in the domain of somatic consciousness. Somatic consciousness refers to our ability to perceive and be aware of internal bodily sensations.

Neurological Grounding: Every movement you make and every posture you hold sends information via sensory nerves to your brain. This constant feedback helps your brain understand and map your body's position in space, a phenomenon known as proprioception.

Emotional Resonance: Beyond physical sensation, our movements and body states often mirror our emotions. The brain and body are deeply connected, with the body reflecting our internal emotional landscape. When you're anxious, your shoulders might tense; when content, your breathing deepens.

Motor Planning: When engaging in a pose, the brain's motor cortex gets activated, planning and executing the movements. This engagement not only refines motor skills but also enhances coordination over time.

Embodied Cognition: The idea that the mind extends throughout the body. Our thoughts, emotions, and perceptions intertwine with our bodily sensations. Recognizing this deep connection offers a holistic understanding of oneself.

Through yoga and mindfulness practices, we're not only achieving physical flexibility or strength. We're fostering a profound connection between mind and body, a relationship that modern science continues to explore and validate.

Chronic Conditions & Resilience

Pathological Implications: In the modern world, chronic diseases have become pervasive, affecting millions globally. Traditional medicine provides solutions, but many are turning to alternative practices like yoga to complement their treatments and, in some cases, find relief when conventional methods fall short.

Chronic Pain Management: For those plagued by persistent pain—whether it's from headaches, back pain, or conditions like fibromyalgia—yoga offers a gentle way to manage and even alleviate this discomfort. The combination of mindful breathing, relaxation techniques, and specific postures can reduce muscle tension and promote pain relief. Over time, regular practice can also improve pain tolerance and decrease the overall perception of pain.

Cardiovascular Benefits: Regular yoga practice can help in reducing high blood pressure. The meditative aspects, combined with controlled breathing and gentle movements, aid in vascular relaxation, promoting a healthier heart.

Glycemic Control: As mentioned previously, diabetes, especially type 2, has shown some remarkable improvements with consistent yoga sessions. The physical postures, along with mindful eating habits often promoted in the yoga community, can improve insulin sensitivity and glycemic control.

Alleviating Chronic Fatigue: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, a condition characterized by persistent, unexplained fatigue, has seen sufferers benefit from yoga. The gentle, restorative poses can boost energy levels, reduce stress, and improve sleep quality.

Mental Health Boost: Beyond physical ailments, yoga offers a sanctuary for those battling anxiety, depression, and other mental health disorders. The mindfulness and meditation components of yoga provide tools for individuals to cope, manage stress, and cultivate a more positive mental state.

Bone and Joint Health: Osteoporosis and arthritis sufferers have found solace in yoga. The weight-bearing poses increase bone density, while the flexibility exercises keep joints lubricated, reducing pain and stiffness.

Incorporating yoga into one's daily routine not only promises physical fitness but opens a doorway to holistic healing. It's a practice that bridges the gap between body and mind, offering therapeutic benefits that are still being unearthed by science.

Neurodivergence and Yoga

Cognitive Differentiation: Yoga's benefits extend well beyond the realm of the neurotypical. For individuals with ADHD, ADD, and ASD, the practice offers a structured environment that can aid in cultivating attention, reducing impulsivity, and enhancing social skills. Studies have indicated that yoga can help improve concentration and reduce hyperactivity in children with ADHD. Similarly, for those on the autism spectrum, yoga sessions can foster better self-aware

Grounding Ritual: For many who are neurodiverse, the world can sometimes feel overwhelming, with sensory inputs coming in at a rapid and disorienting pace. The rhythmic flow and predictable sequences found in yoga provide a calming structure. This predictability can act as an anchoring ritual, helping individuals process sensory information more efficiently and regulate their emotional responses. The deep breathing techniques often paired with yoga postures further enhance this grounding effect, offering a tool that can be used in moments of sensory overload or heightened anxiety.

The Spirituality Behind Yoga

Across cultures and traditions, rituals of worship and spiritual practice share a universal aim: to facilitate connection, understanding, and transformation. Drawing parallels between the spiritual journey of religious worship and the introspective path of yoga may at first seem divergent. Yet, when delved into, one discovers a harmonious synchronization between the two. From the sacred spaces that encapsulate spiritual resonance to the chants that unify, both avenues, though varied in practice, converge in essence. Whether it's the hallowed chambers of religious establishments or the serene corners dedicated to yoga, both offer solace to the soul, channeling transcendence and inner peace.

Sacred Spaces:

The ambiance of a location often reflects its spiritual significance. The towering spires of a cathedral for a Christian, the silent walls of a mosque for a Muslim, a synagogue's ark for the Jewish community, or the consecrated altar of a Wiccan circle, each resonate sacredness. Similarly, for a yogi, the mat is sacred ground—a space of introspection and connection.

Initiation and Ritual Cleansing:

Just as Catholics use holy water and Muslims perform Wudu, yogis initiate their practice with cleansing breaths. These rituals, be it the sign of the cross, ritual purification, or grounding breaths, prepare the individual for the spiritual journey ahead.

Chants and Recitations:

Collective singing of hymns in churches, recitations in mosques, chants in synagogues, or invocations in Pagan circles parallel the harmonious chanting of "Om" in yoga. Each seeks to synchronize energy and focus.

Scriptures and Teachings:

Scriptures guide and enlighten—passages from the Bible, Quran verses, Torah readings, or the Book of Shadows in Wicca resonate with yogic discussions on ancient sutras or revered yogi teachings.

Community in Spirituality and Group Yoga Sessions:

The vibrancy of collective worship in a Catholic Mass, Muslim prayers, Jewish High Holidays, or a Pagan sabbat mirrors the ambiance of group yoga sessions. Both avenues create a sense of belonging and unity—yogis and worshippers draw strength and inspiration from their communities. Post-session or service, connections deepen: from Christian Sunday lunches, Jewish Shabbat dinners, Muslim Iftars, Pagan communal feasts, to post-yoga discussions.

Solitary Spiritual Practice and Individual Yoga Routines:

The depth of personal worship, be it Christian rosary prayers, Jewish personal reflections, or Wiccan solitary rites, aligns with the introspection in individual yoga routines. Both avenues offer a deeper, personalized connection to the divine or inner self, allowing practitioners to reflect and grow at their own pace.

Closing Rituals:

Both spiritual and yogic paths emphasize conclusion—a moment to reflect and be grateful. This can be seen in the Christian sign of peace, the Muslim Tasleem, Jewish Aleinu, Pagan circle closure, or the yogic practice of Savasana and "Namaste."

Yoga, as embraced by the Western world, often prioritizes its physical aspect, the asanas. However, the roots of yoga run much deeper, branching into a holistic spiritual framework that aims to cultivate a balanced, ethical, and fulfilled life. At the heart of this spiritual practice are the Yamas and Niyamas, 10 ethical guidelines that offer a roadmap to self-realization and harmonious living.

Yamas: Ethical Restraints

Ahimsa (Non-Violence): Beyond abstaining from physical harm, this principle emphasizes compassion in words and thoughts. For example, it might mean responding with understanding instead of anger during a disagreement or even choosing a vegetarian diet out of compassion for animals.

Satya (Truthfulness): Living authentically and speaking one's truth is the essence of Satya. It’s not just about honesty but also about communicating with sincerity. For instance, it suggests giving genuine compliments rather than flattery.

Asteya (Non-Stealing): This goes beyond refraining from theft. It's also about not taking more than one needs. This could translate to not over-consuming natural resources or respecting another's time by being punctual.

Brahmacharya (Continence): More than celibacy, Brahmacharya promotes a balanced approach to desires. This might mean practicing moderation in eating, spending, or even screen time.

Aparigraha (Non-Greed): This Yama encourages individuals to take only what they need, finding satisfaction in simplicity. For example, it can mean charging fair prices for goods or services one provides, ensuring that both parties benefit equitably.

Niyamas: Personal Observances

Saucha (Cleanliness): While it does promote physical cleanliness, like keeping one's surroundings tidy, Saucha also underscores the importance of a clear, uncluttered mental state. This can be as simple as decluttering one’s desk or taking a digital detox.

Santosha (Contentment): This principle encourages finding contentment in the present, such as practicing gratitude for what one has instead of always wanting more.

Tapas (Discipline): Tapas emphasizes dedication in one's yoga practice and in other life aspects. It could manifest as setting aside specific times for meditation or sticking to a commitment to exercise.

Svadhyaya (Self-Study): This is a commitment to introspection. It might involve journaling, meditation, or even therapy, to reflect on and understand one's actions, thoughts, and feelings.

Ishvara Pranidhana (Surrender to the Divine): This Niyama is about surrendering one's ego and recognizing a force greater than the individual self. In practice, it could mean letting go of the need to control everything and trusting the process.

In its true essence, yoga is not merely a physical discipline but a comprehensive spiritual journey. Adhering to the principles of the Yamas and Niyamas not only enhances physical well-being but also paves the way for a life marked by ethical soundness, self-awareness, and inner peace. It's a practice that extends well beyond the mat and into every facet of life, guiding practitioners towards healthier, more ethical, and contented living.

We started in Hanover, PA at the Serpent’s Key Shoppe and Sanctuary. The owner of the shop, Beck Lawrence, was interviewed by a local newsletter for their October edition. Lawrence’s pronouns are they/them. Lawrence talked about the shop offering candles, crystals, and other witchy objects, as well as Tarot readings. They invited the community to come check out the Serpent’s Key.

On October 5, Police Chief Chad Martin visited Lawrence to inform them that Tarot is illegal in Pennsylvania. He advised Lawrence that he was not there to arrest them, but if a complaint was made, he would have to investigate it. Lawrence has described this visit as “chilling.” They have spoken out about this incident to their over 200,000 followers on TikTok. Lawrence is very grateful for all the support they have received.

I spoke with Freya Maeven, a Pagan who lives nearby. She also describes the incident as chilling. She says that it feels like it has been a set back to the local Pagan community.

Next, we move to Franklin, PA where the Chamber of Commerce hosts an annual Witch Walk.

From the Chamber Website:

Witch Walk

The Franklin Retail Association will hold it's annual Witch Walk from 4 to 7 p.m. in downtown Franklin.

Tickets are on Sale now at Olde Liberty and Amy's & Sassy's.
The cost is $25 per person, which includes shopping downtown Franklin, 2 Treat Coupons, 2 Trick Coupons, One Reading, Entertainment, Best Dressed Prizes, Door Prizes and the Witches Ball/Dance at Trails to Ale II.

A limited number VIP tickets are available and give the holder the right to pick their reader.

Sounds like fun, right? Not everybody thinks so.

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church is calling on Christian business owners and Christians in the community to contact the Franklin Chamber to protest this “nonsense” as they call it. They also go on to claim that participating will lead to demonic interference in a person’s life. They are inviting the community join them for prayers for deliverance from witchcraft on 10/21 at 3:00PM.

Finally, we looked at an article from The Wild Hunt discussing a recent uptick in the use of the phrase “burn the witch.”

https://wildhunt.org/2023/10/readers-raise-concerns-about-the-term-burn-the-witch.html

I want to particularly focus on the board game from Pique Games called Burn the Witch.

https://piquegames.com/burn-the-witch

Game play consists of trying to burn the witches in the village, although innocents can be burned as well. This game is promoted violence against all of us who identify as Witches.

Rev. Kzane Burdick has started a petition against the distribution of this game. Please at the link below.

We are in gratitude of the trust and energy been shown towards our plans for a Witch College. The surprising most response of creating a library, and we have witnessed a lot of discussion and hope for something grandeur, improving on the status quo, and wanting to be part of a positive shift in the world. This project can fulfill that goal.

This is for the Witch College Library Card, $10 and included in every pledge.
Thank you for all of you are supporting this project in so many ways.

Behind every Collegium is a great library, and we will have one at Witch College.
Your Witch College Library Card, on the very first day will have access a to a virtual library of thousands of books, past and present. Of course, these will be copyright compliant. The team behind this project is insistent that we respect and honor authors and has for over 30 years. This library will be consistently growing with an infinite horizon as its guide.

Witch College feels it’s essential that we continue to improve our ability to retain knowledge for ourselves over time. With a need for physical locations, we have moved forward. As discussed our HQ in Chicago, to provide the central lending library. More on this in future updates.
We have commitments for a library in Mid-Tennessee and in Salem, Mass. We have more than a dozen inquiries and discussions with good hearted book lovers. This is a wonderful, if completely unexpected speed up of the Witch College Manifestation.

We will be accepting books in Chicago before Samhain, October 31st, 2023. Address to be provided soon.

Join us at WitchCollege.org to see the percussor community we are creating.

Please share as much as your willing about the Witch College Library Card, and be part of this transformative movement towards well educated future. Every card pledged allows us to build better.

Blessings,
Ed Hubbard

Correllian Times - October 2023https://pagan.world/blog/correllian-times-october-20232023-10-03T01:46:54.000Z2023-10-03T01:46:54.000ZBryan J Ellicotthttps://pagan.world/members/BryanJEllicott

Thank you to everyone who submitted to the New Revamped Correllian Times.
